AUTO_BUFFER

This variable affects only non-networked, single-tasking machines (such as non-networked MS-DOS machines). When set to a non-zero value, this entry causes all disk I/O to be buffered (similar to MASS_UPDATE). In addition, to ensure that files are not easily corrupted by power failures, all disk buffers are flushed whenever one of these two conditions is met:

• A Format 1 or Format 2 ACCEPT statement executes.
• The count of file update operations (WRITE, REWRITE, DELETE) equal the value specified for AUTO_BUFFER.

The default value is "50".
