When this variable is set to "1" (on, true, yes), ACUCOBOL-GT supports 7-bit communications instead of 8-bit. This variable is designed specifically for machines that use 7-bit communications with parity enabled. When 7_BIT is set to the default of "0" (off, false, no), 8-bit communications are used.
